what should I wear to a Christian rock concert?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I’m going to a christian rock concert with my church’s youth group. What should I wear?

Just a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt. Something conservative, I mean its a church-y event. You want to be pleasing to God. Who are you going to see? I went to a conference this year in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There were some great artists there. Natalie Grant, KJ-52….they were amazing

Well I hope you have fun.

Is christian rock music glorifying to God?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I love the music of christian rock, but is it glorifying God? Even if the lyrics are about God’s love and praise, is it good to listen to christian rock?

While all genres of christian music essentially glorify God, I fell like Christian rock is one of the worst. A ton of the music is simply re-writing old worship songs with rock music. The original stuff relies heavily on short, unimaginative, repetitive lyrics aimed at the single focal point (God is great, Jesus is the savior), but anybody listening already knows the point.

Why can’t Christian music be creative and entertaining? I know the hearts of the artists are in the right place, but at times it seems like they aren’t even trying. The Bible, New and Old Testaments, are rich with history and lessons that could easily be adapted to music (especially rock music, such as ballads).

I can imagine God hearing Christian rock and thinking, "Gee, another song where 3/4 of the lyrics are the word "holy", guys, I appreciate it, but could you entertain Me a little bit?"

Why does Christian Rock have such a bad rep?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Seriously! I’ve heard Christian bands that rock harder than most metal bands and are more melodic than what all my friends are listening to. The only difference is that there’s no swearing and SOME songs reference God. Most, actually don’t even say God more than a few times per CD!

I like a lot christian rock/metal (Even though I’m atheist) but that’s because I don’t pay much attention to lyrics usually so it doesn’t bother me. A lot of people aren’t like that and don’t like preachy bands.

What do you think of an atheist liking a Christian rock band?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I’m atheist and I like the band Skillet. They’re christian rock. The lyrics are pretty ambiguous really. Anyways they rock

I think you should listen to Skillet if you like them. :) I love Skillet!!!! My best friend isn’t Christian and her favorite band is Anberlin (another Christian rock band). And even though I am a Christian, I listen to some secular music. As long as you like it, don’t let the title turn you off. You’d miss out on a lot of great music. ;)
